I have used the same set of Le Creuset skillets & pots for more than 20 years, so the quality of this brand is something about which I needed no convincing. Still, deciding to spend $180 on a panini sandwich press & grill took some convincing. After just 2 days and using it for 8 sandwiches, I'm delighted. The texture of the grilled sandwich bread - no flipping needed! - is perfect & in every case, the filling has been heated perfectly. (We have a gas stove, so I can't comment on how it would work with electric burners.) Others mentioned not being able to use it for multiple sandwiches, but so far, we have been OK grilling 4 at a time (one after another).
I have not tried any other brand of panini grill/press, so can't compare to others. But as long as we follow the directions (pre-heat, wait until cool to wash, etc) I fully expect to get decades of quality use - and culinary enjoyment - out of this product.
